Today we introduce you to Wenbin He, a very talented photographer residing in Paris.

ABOUT Wenbin

KWC: Introduce yourself. How old are you, where do you live, and what do you do?
Wenbin photo: Hi, I'm Wenbin, I'm from Shanghai, China and I came to France to study in October 2010 and now I'm living in Paris. I began taking photos of cosplay on 2008 when I got my first DSLR camera that was a Canon 450D and personally, I really like the colour which Canon shows. I will still stay in Europe for maximum 1 year and after that I will go back to Shanghai, but I will keep taking cosplay pictures for all those friends who like my work. KWC: Do you have any other hobbies besides cosplay photography
Wenbin photo: Yes, I like to watch animes and read light novel besides cosplay photography! My favorite anime is Fate series and also I like Steins;Gate, Code Geass, Bakuman etc,etc!!! I have tried to cosplay for several times too!



KWC: What is your favorite game/manga/anime/comic/movie?
Wenbin photo: Ah, that I have already answered XD I don't play game but Manga and anime, there are really a lot, I add some likeIchiko 100%, Evangelion, Psycho pass, from the new world, Gundam, guilty crown, Garei-zero.... Sooooo many!



KWC: Which are your favorite characters?
Wenbin photo: Saber!!! and Makise Kurisu, Inori, Ayanami Rei, C.C., Holo, Lacus, kuroyukihime etc,etc...^^



KWC: Do you have a favorite photographer or a role model?
Wenbin photo:There are a lot of photographers do great works like Cloud Mandokir, N8E, Julian Rico, Crazy ball, Cool AND, Asimagic, Shashinkai, Aleke, R.M. Photography, HeavenlyDays, Anstellos in France and ByZA, AyidaK, Mesh_d_3rd, Diz*Zyモノガタリ, King Piñga in Italy. It is sure that I have lost some photographers who I know, but all of them are doing their best to make value of cosplay! In another hand, there are Omaru, Asimagic and JaysomeP who make the awesome cosplay videos you must watch that!

The Top 3 cosplayers that I prefer in France are Ayanna, Ally and Ryuu Seika and in Italy are Yuki No Hana, Sweet Angel and Haku. Besides I love the Saber cosplay from Calssara and Maridah



ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY

KWC: Why and how did you become a cosplay photographer? Did you have any help?
Wenbin photo: Because I really like to watch animes and light novels, it is a great happiness to see the characters appear in real life and because I studied advertising in my university, so I have learned about photography. When these came together, I became a cosplay photographer




KWC: What does photography mean to you?
Wenbin photo: For me, the most important thing is the clarity, that means a good photo cannot be fuzzy and then is the composition, the color and the background, I don't like to edit to much of the photo, except there should be an effect of magic or something legend XD

KWC: Which camera do you use? ~
Wenbin photo: At first I used a Canon 450D and now I have changed to use a Canon 5D mark II

KWC: Do you prefer manual or auto focusing?
Wenbin photo: I'm now using M mode when I take pictures but focusing I think it rest auto



KWC: Which lenses do you use?
Wenbin photo: I have only three lenses, 17-40mm/F4.0L, 50mm/F1.4 and 70-300mm/F4.0

KWC: How do you pick the place to shoot? And the photo angles?
Wenbin photo: I like to choose the place meet the story or background of the character of the cosplay, and because I watched a lot animes so I can almost recognize all the cosplays when I go the conventions. If not, I prefer a dark and clean background. The angles are also depending on the character.



KWC: What did you learn as a photographer?
Wenbin photo: It is a hard but respected work  About the technique, there are too much but most time, a good photo is from a coincidence



KWC: Useful tips for the future photographers.
Wenbin photo: DOSSIER POST BAC Use a large aperture lens and the flash during the convention to remove the crowded peoples behind. Take care of the foot, do not cut them!

Hello everybody, my name is Monica Wos. I'm living in HCM city, Vietnam. I'm 22 years old, just graduated from college and currently looking for a job


KWC: Do you have any other hobbies besides cosplaying?
Besides cosplaying, I also love to make accessories for cosplay, hanging out with friends, listening to music, watching anime and stalking beautiful girls )

KWC: What is your favourite game/manga/anime/comic/movie?
I used to play many games when I was a kid, but I've stopped. The only game I still remember is Chocobo Racing (aaa I want to play it again ^^ )
I've watch many manga, anime, but One Piece is my biggest love


KWC: What are your favorite characters?
I love all of One Piece's character


KWC: Do you have some favourite cosplayers or a role model?
The 1st crossplayer that I know and truly like is Stay And Lalaax , pretty couple King x Mon


ABOUT COSPLAYING

KWC: How did the interest in cosplay came together for you?
Cosplay is simply my hobby. I love to take care of my accessories, make them however I want and when they are finished, I feel really wonderful when I dress them up. It's my simple hapiness


KWC: What does cosplay mean to you?
Oh it's a long story
First, I really loved a character and I've thought about "being" them, it would be fun. I invited my friends to cosplay with me, we used to cos in group and sign up in cosplay festivals. I really love those time when the festival is near, everybody in our group will stay together to making accessories, rehearsal, help each other (it's teamwork spirit!)

KWC: When did you start cosplaying and what was your first cosplay?
I started cosplaying on July 2011, I cosplayed as Near from Death Note.


KWC: Do you make or buy your cosplays?
I usually buy wigs, shoes from taobao. With wigs, I buy the basic and then re-edit how I want.
About costumes, I choose the materials, have them basically made at the tailor and then I add some details like drawings, beads,...
I make all the accessories myself: necklaces, bracelets, angel wings, masks, even the pets, animals. I can also make some simple kind of weapons.

KWC: Least favorite cosplay? Why?
I don't really have the least favorite cosplay. Because I treasure everyone's efforts, we make them together, so I love them all


KWC: Do you prefer cosplay or crossplay? Why?
They are both distinguished and interesting in their own ways. But I seem to be more interested in crossplay.


KWC: How do you choose a character to cosplay?
I don't have any rules, if I like, I cos, but mostly female, sexy, fighting spirit...



KWC: What is the hardest part when you are starting a new cosplay?
The hardest part is probably to make sure if the character is fit with my personality or if I can fully express their personalities.

KWC: Do you cosplay alone or with friends?
I currently have a group, but I also have some side projects.

KWC: On what occasions do you cosplay?
When we have a festival. In Vietnam, they hold cosplay festival year-around


KWC: What do your family and friends think about cosplay? Do they like it?
My family is really supportive. Mom even prints my cosplay photos and stick them around the house )


KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
Cosplaying in Vietnam is attracting more and more attention. We are getting better in photo-shooting, costumes, make ups. All the cosplays recently look quite good. I hope cosplaying will be more popular in Vietnam. You can take a look here:

Don't worry if you are a newbie and you have very few cosplays, that doesn't matter as long as you're sure you're going to keep cosplaying for at least a year.

We've been following her work for too long and even secretly admiring her until we decided it was finally the time to ask her to be our Cosplayer of the Month!


About *AriB-Rabbit


KWC: Introduce yourself. How old are you, where do you live, and what do you do?
*AriB-Rabbit I'm Ari B-Rabbit, I'm a cosplayer from Barcelona (Spain) and I'm 19 years old. Right now I'm studying a course of custom-fitted dress and performance!
I love listening to J-Music, Ost's, Disney songs, etc. I also enjoy watching movies and analysing the dresses, the plots and everything else! And I also love to make cosplay tutorials, to take photos and to edit them with photoshop.
I began cosplaying on 2009! It makes me very happy to work in each costume and doing it the most similar and realistic possible, being able to dress up as my favourite characters and bring them to life.



KWC: Do you have any other hobbies besides cosplaying?
*AriB-Rabbit Yes! I love making Fandubs, editing videos (and making them, of course), photography and dancing parapara or techpara.

KWC: What is your favourite game/manga/anime/comic/movie?
*AriB-Rabbit I don't know which one to choose because all of them have marked me in a different way... but if I have to choose some, they would be:
Game: Kingdom Hearts (I/II and 358/2 days), TWEWY, Pokemon (a lot of them), Final Fantasy XII (Revenant Wings), Final Fantasy XIII,Alice Madness Returns ...
Manga: Full moon wo Sagashite,Kuroshitsuji and Pandora Hearts.
Anime: Chobits, Full Metal Alchemist,Sakura Card Captor,Katekyo Hitman Reborn,Durarara!..
Comic: I don't read comics right now... but I have some I'd like to read!
Movie: Nearly all Disney's movies! [Above all Tangled], the Treasure's Planet, Sherlock Holmes, The Fifth Element, Stardust, Moulin Rouge, Rise of Guardians, etc. I've got an enormous list! I'm a huge movie fan!

KWC: Which are your favourite characters?
*AriB-Rabbit I have a special affection for Alice B-Rabbit, from Pandora Hearts, since we're similar in some aspects. But I also adore Sora and Xion from Kingdom Hearts, Tsuna from Katekyou Hitman Reborn, Oz from Pandora Hearts too, Rapunzel from Tangled and a lot more...



KWC: Do you have some favourite cosplayers or a role model?
*AriB-Rabbit I love a lot of cosplayers from the entire world! Specially: Lupin (Line Maria Eriksen), Calssara, Usagi Tsukino, Ryoko Demon, Ryuu Seika, Elffi... And I'm sure I'm not mentioning some others I like a lot, but all of them inspire me a lot!


About cosplaying

KWC: How did you get interested in cosplay?
*AriB-Rabbit I have always been a fan of anime and manga, since I was a little kid. And with time I discovered more things I liked about the Japanese culture. At the beginning, when I first attended conventions, I saw a lot of people dressed as my favourite characters. And I had the fleeting idea that I could also do it, but it went away unnoticed. Until some years later, when I listened to Hatsune Miku's songs, it was then when I thought of making my first cosplay for real. Miku was a character I felt very identified to in that moment, but I didn't have any idea of how to sew, so I couldn't make that cosplay... I began with something a bit simpler, my Mokona cosplay! At that moment, I was watching Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle on television and I loved it! The more cosplays I made, the more meaning they became for me. I love to put myself in the character's place.



KWC: What does cosplay mean to you?
*AriB-Rabbit For me, cosplay is a very funny and special hobby, the process and the result , since you can create the dress and, after that, play the character. It's like a dream! I love to characterize my favourite characters and, above all, being able to dress myself with something I've made up on my own. Sometimes cosplays give serious headaches because of different reasons, but it's always worth of it in the end!



KWC: When did you start cosplaying and what was your first cosplay?
*AriB-Rabbit I began to cosplay in 2009 May (I'll soon reach my fourth year in the cosplay world, wow!) and my first cosplay was : Mokona Modoki, from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles// XXXHolic.

KWC: Do you make or buy your cosplays?
*AriB-Rabbit At first I bought a pair of cosplays, since I didn't dare to make some things (I bought the cosplay of Yuuki Kiran from Vampire Knight and the gabardine of the Organization XIII from Kingdom Hearts), but I've made all the rest myself, some of them with help from my grandmother, since I didn't begin to sew with sewing machine until two years ago... But I love to make the patterns and sewing! Above all when you see that they taking their form!

KWC: Which cosplay was your favorite?
*AriB-Rabbit Unfff... I don't know if I would be able to choose one. I love a lot of them: Chesire Neko from Pandora Hearts, because it was very difficult for me to make it; Ciel Phantomhive's one (strawberry version) from Kuroshitsuji and the cosplay of Serah Farron, from Final Fantasy XIII.



KWC: Least favorite cosplay? Why?
*AriB-Rabbit Well ... one I couldn't even put on. Medea's, from Final Fantasy XII (Revenant Wings). It was a very difficult cosplay and I lacked experience. It had a lot of details and it was very difficult to put on: I spent 6 hours for wearing it and, however, there were a lot of things unfinished. I was so depressed that I didn't do it. It affected me a lot, that everything came out so wrong...



KWC: Do you prefer cosplay or crossplay? Why?
*AriB-Rabbit The two of them, I don't mind the gender of the character but his/her personality, so I alternate them.

KWC: How do you choose a character to cosplay?
*AriB-Rabbit Well, first, I think about the character and personality, then about the costume. Most characters I choose are tsunderes ,with willpower, with fighting spirit, brave, etc.
Although also sometimes, when I look at the costumes first, I immediately check if I like the character, then do the cosplay.

KWC: What is the hardest part when you are starting a new cosplay?
*AriB-Rabbit First, find the fabrics! There are times when it takes me months to find the perfect fabric for a cosplay ... But I think the hardest thing for me is to adjust the patterns, because I'm not very accurate, just in case, because sometimes I'm wrong and I prefer to leave a little more, so I have to adjust it all to my body and it's to hard if you don't have a mannequin ...



KWC: Do you cosplay alone or with friends?
*AriB-Rabbit Sometimes alone and sometimes with friends. Depends on the cosplay. Sometimes we coincide and we go together or we do it together.

KWC: On what occasions do you cosplay?
*AriB-Rabbit When I go to conventions, meetups with friends or at photo shoots.



KWC: What do your family and friends think about cosplay? Do they like it?
*AriB-Rabbit At first they thought it was strange, but when I was small, in carnival I had gone from Sailor Moon and Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, so they supported me always and still support me now because they see that I like it and I'm very creative with it, so they like it!

KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
*AriB-Rabbit I think there are really amazing cosplayers who work very hard and they are very friendly. That's really nice, even though like around the world, I guess, there are always silliness problems, and that makes the world of cosplay rot a bit ...

KWC: What are your next cosplays?
*AriB-Rabbit [Now I'm finishing the cosplays of Rapunzel (Artbook) and Finn the Human] So my next cosplays will be Syaoran Li from Cardcaptor Sakura (the second film), finish my Rapunzel cosplay of the film and then I'll do Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, but I'm still not sure.
